Solar is simple on the one hand yet we can see that it is taking on a major role as an energy solution.  Solar is distributed generation, distributed by the sun, which is why it is so simple.  But it requires high technology to get those photons to kick an electron loose and send it down a wire.  And it requires low technology, grunt work sometimes, to get those panels up onto a roof where they can see the sun all day.  And lots in between.  Insulation.  Hardware.  Power electronics, capacitors and of course, good old silicon dioxide, or glass.   Damage happens.  Hence a need for service.
